Azure Synapse Analytics 6 offers dedicated SQL pools (formerly SQL DW), sized in Data Warehousing Units and pausable: DW100c lists at $1.51 an hour in East US, plus $23 per TB-month of storage. Its serverless SQL pool queries files in the lake at $5 per TB processed. Microsoft's documentation now points new projects to Microsoft Fabric 6 Data Warehouse and offers a migration assistant for dedicated pools.
Fabric's warehouse stores every table as Delta Parquet 129 files in OneLake, speaks T-SQL with multi-table ACID transactions, and shares its engine with the SQL analytics endpoint of each Fabric lakehouse. Compute is a capacity shared by all Fabric workloads, sized in capacity units from F2 (2 CU) to F8192. Azure 6 bills it per second with a one-minute minimum: $0.18 per CU-hour in East US, so F2 costs $0.36 an hour while running and nothing while paused, with about 41% off for a reservation. OneLake hot storage is $0.026 per GB-month. A 60-day trial gives F64-equivalent capacity.
