Every page should answer at exactly one address; when http://, www and a trailing slash all serve it, search engines split its links among the copies. The files below run on the test site of URL Rewriting with mod_rewrite, now on port 8106 for HTTP and 18106 for HTTPS. Each output line shows a URL, its status and its Location, printed by a shell function t that runs curl 3,008 -sk -o /dev/null -w '%{http_code} %{redirect_url}\n' with --connect-to mapping ports 80 and 443 to the test server.
