Astronomer 149,584 , which maintains Cosmos (Orchestrating dbt with Cosmos), sells Astro 17,728 : hosted Airflow 129 on AWS 24 , Google Cloud 1 or Azure 6 . Its Astro Runtime 3.3-8 (23 September 2026) carried Airflow 3.3.2 six days after Apache. A deployment (scheduler, API server, triggerer) costs a fixed rate from $0.35 an hour on the Developer plan or $0.42 on Team, while workers cost from $0.13 an hour only while tasks run, because they scale to zero. Security features depend on the plan: 7-day audit logs on Team; 90 days and enforced SSO on Business (quoted).
Dagster 177,056 + hosts Dagster's UI, metadata and daemon; your code runs on its Serverless compute ($0.010 a minute) or on your machines through an agent (Hybrid, no compute charge). Each asset materialization and each op execution is a credit: Solo costs $10 a month plus $0.040 a credit, Starter $100 plus $0.035; SSO and audit logs need the quoted Pro plan. BookNest's job (The Pipeline as Assets) materializes five assets a day, so it stays under 300 credits, about $22 a month on Solo with Hybrid. On 13 July 2026 Prefect 74,615 announced it was acquiring Dagster Labs; Dagster keeps its name and Apache 2.0 licence. Prefect Cloud has a free Hobby tier (2 users, 5 deployments), then Starter at $100 a month.
