Two direct dependencies became 82 packages. The tree shows 1's conflict resolved npm's way: content-type 1.0.5 took the top-level slot, so each package needing 2.1.0 got its own nested copy, three identical copies on disk. pnpm 69,400 (pnpm's Store) and Yarn 11,798 's Plug'n'Play (Yarn Berry and Plug'n'Play) store it once; Hoisting and Deduplication explains hoisting. In CI and Docker 514 builds, use npm ci (MERN Stack Development, Lockfiles).
