IIS

If you have already owned a copy of the Windows operating system, you can launch a web server by Microsoft at no additional cost. To do this on Windows 10:

  1. Press the WIN key next to the Ctrl key at the lower left of your keyboard to bring up the Windows menu.Immediately type 'Turn Windows features on or off'. The option should appear before you complete the sentence. Click the option. (Alternatively, follow Control Panel > Programs.)
  2. On the dialog box that pops up, search the list for 'Internet Information Services'. Check it.
  3. Click OK. Wait for the installation to finish.
  4. Enter 'localhost' on the address bar of any browser to see the default landing page of the IIS server.

The default website directory is located at C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ on your hard disk. You should place the files of your site there.
