Stefan Gössner proposed JSONPath in 2007 as "XPath for JSON"; RFC 9535 (February 2024) finally standardized it. A query starts at the root $, applies segments in turn and returns a nodelist, each node with a unique normalized path. The examples use python-jsonpath 2.2.1 (github.com/jg-rp/python-jsonpath (https://github.com/jg-rp/python-jsonpath 78 ), MIT), which follows RFC 9535.
