What the Free Hobby Plan Runs and What Needs a Paid Tier

Current LocalStack 63,725 releases come in four plans. All include CloudFormation 24 , Lambda 24 , DynamoDB 24 and S3 24 ; the differences are services, persistence, IAM enforcement and commercial rights:

The pinned 4.13.1 Community image sits outside these plans, with a fixed feature set. Once it runs (LocalStack in Docker), its health endpoint lists what it emulates:

There is no rds and no ecs: that is why BookNest's catalog moves from PostgreSQL 1,289 to DynamoDB, and its API from a container to Lambda, in this chapter (Database and Compute argues the choice). IAM policies are stored but not enforced, so a missing permission shows up only on real AWS 24 (IAM on LocalStack).
