Everything on a page is a node, and every node is an EventTarget. The Interface Hierarchy laid out that inheritance chain; this section puts it to work: parsing strings into nodes, walking and editing the tree, measuring boxes, hit-testing points, attaching shadow roots and loading fonts. Frameworks perform these same calls on every update (Virtual DOM and Signals), so knowing them helps you both write small widgets without a framework and debug what a framework did.
