Synapse and Fabric Spark

Azure Synapse Analytics 6 offers serverless Apache Spark 129 pools billed per vCore-hour while a pool runs: $0.138 per vCore-hour for memory-optimized nodes in East US, according to Azure 6 's retail price API. Microsoft now builds its analytics features into Microsoft Fabric 6 , where Spark draws on a shared capacity: one capacity unit (CU) equals two Spark vCores, with up to three times that as burst, and an F2 capacity (2 CUs) costs $262.80 a month pay-as-you-go in East US, $0.18 per CU-hour. Fabric's newer on-demand billing for Spark takes Spark jobs off the capacity entirely and bills them pay-as-you-go at 0.5 CU-hour per vCore-hour of active job compute, up to a CU limit you set; batch jobs queue rather than fail when the limit is reached.
