Before the first git add, decide what belongs in the repository: everything a teammate needs to rebuild the project, and nothing a machine can regenerate or that only you should see. BookNest's folder holds eleven files of source, schema, tests and configuration, plus node_modules with 739 files (5.3 MB). The eleven belong in Git 1,932 ; node_modules does not, because npm 2,036 ci recreates it exactly from package-lock.json, which is committed (Package Managers). 5 sorts BookNest's files into three groups. Keep one project per repository for now (Submodules vs Monorepo weighs monorepos).
