ksqlDB's License and Status

ksqlDB is source-available under the Confluent 17,245 Community License: you may run, modify and embed it, but not offer it as a competing hosted service. Its GitHub 29 repository states that it no longer accepts contributions from the community. The last standalone release, 0.29.0, dates from June 2023; since then ksqlDB ships only inside Confluent Platform (cp-ksqldb-server 8.3.2, September 2026) and as a managed service in Confluent Cloud 17,245 , where Confluent's stream-processing investment has moved to Flink 129 (Confluent Cloud for Flink). For new projects, treat ksqlDB as a maintained product of one vendor rather than an open community project.
