Standard hosted runners are free in public repositories, and self-hosted runners are free everywhere. Private repositories first use the plan's monthly allowance: 2,000 minutes and 500 MB of artifact storage on Free, 3,000 and 1 GB on Pro, 3,000 and 2 GB on Team, 50,000 and 50 GB on Enterprise Cloud, plus 10 GB of cache. Beyond it GitHub 29 bills per minute, rounding each job up to a whole minute. On 1 January 2026 rates fell by up to 39%, and now include a $0.002-a-minute "cloud platform charge"; billing that charge for self-hosted runners from March 2026 was postponed indefinitely in December 2025 after users objected.

Linux 2-core arm64 costs $0.005. Larger runners run from $0.012 (Linux 4-core) to $0.552 (Windows 96-core), GPU runners from $0.052; they are billed even in public repositories, never from included minutes. Extra storage costs $0.25 per GB-month for artifacts and packages and $0.07 for cache above 10 GB, accrued hourly. Check the runner pricing reference on docs.github.com before you budget.
