Installing kind and kubectl in WSL Ubuntu 26.04

kind 14,561 needs only a container engine (Docker 514 , Podman 47,580 or nerdctl 10,397 ) and is one static Go binary. Download it from the release page, check it against the published SHA-256 sum and put it on the PATH:

kind does not bundle kubectl 5,150 . Install it with apt from https://pkgs.k8s.io/core:/stable:/v1.37/deb/ 14,561 , the project's own repository: one per minor version, so apt upgrade never jumps to 1.38 behind your back. kubectl may be one minor version away from the API server, so this book's 1.37.1 client suits kind's 1.37.0 nodes. Homebrew 6,457 (Homebrew on macOS and Linux) installs both with brew install kind kubectl.
