Search History

Personalization is confirmed. Google says it uses "your location, past Search history, and Search settings to determine what is most relevant", so "football" shows the Chicago Bears in Chicago and the Premier League in London. The "About this result" panel shows whether search history influenced a result, and personalization can be switched off. Google also says Search "does not put people in 'filter bubbles'" and does not infer sensitive traits such as religion. The practical lesson: your own searches mislead you about rankings. Check average position in Search Console 1 (Analytics and Search Console) instead.
