Google runs "query deserves freshness" systems: a search for a just-released movie or a recent earthquake favors recent pages, while evergreen queries do not. Freshness is therefore confirmed for time-sensitive queries only. Publishing frequency as a site-wide boost is not a ranking factor; Google asks whether you are adding or removing content to seem "fresh" and answers "(No, it won't)", and it treats "changing the date of pages to make them seem fresh when the content has not substantially changed" as a warning sign.
Update pages when facts change, show a visible "Published" or "Last updated" date, and keep dateModified in structured data and <lastmod> in the sitemap honest (Sitemap).
