In spring 2011 Jenkins 8,793 became an associated project of Software in the Public Interest, the nonprofit that also holds Debian 319 's and PostgreSQL 1,289 's assets. On 12 March 2019 the Linux Foundation launched the Continuous Delivery Foundation (CDF) with Jenkins, Jenkins X 4,691 , Spinnaker 470,907 and Tekton 551,465 as founding projects; Jenkins moved its assets there, and on 4 August 2020 became the CDF's first graduated project. The trademark passed to LF Charities, a Linux Foundation nonprofit, on 24 February 2021.
Day-to-day decisions stay inside the project, with people its contributors elect. A five-member governance board, serving staggered two-year terms, sets direction and spends the budget. Officers each own one area: the security officer handles vulnerability reports and the advisories of Patching Plugins, the release officer the weekly and LTS releases, the infrastructure officer ci.jenkins.io and the update center, and further officers events and documentation. Larger changes go through Jenkins Enhancement Proposals (JEPs), design documents reviewed in public on GitHub 29 , much like Python's PEPs.
