The setup wizard (Setup Wizard) offers two buttons. Install suggested plugins takes the 19 entries flagged "suggested": true in jenkins/install/platform-plugins.json inside jenkins-core.jar; Select plugins to install shows the file's 52 entries by category, the suggested ones ticked. Those 19 pulled in 73 dependencies, 92 plugins in all, and several do nothing for a Node.js 2,131 project: Ant and Gradle 19,597 are Java build steps, and LDAP matters only with a directory server. The suggestions suit a controller you are exploring. For one you will keep, choose manually or install from a plugins.txt file (plugins.txt): every plugin loads into the controller's JVM and adds startup time, upgrade work and advisories.
