The Official jenkins/jenkins Image

The image is jenkins/jenkins on Docker Hub 514 , built by the Jenkins 8,793 project from github.com/jenkinsci/docker (https://github.com/jenkinsci/docker 7,646 ). The old jenkins image without the prefix, still found in outdated tutorials, has been marked "DEPRECATED; use jenkins/jenkins:lts instead" since 2018. The current image's metadata shows how it expects to be run:

Port 8080 serves the web interface and 50000 the inbound agents of Remoting and JNLP4. The process runs as the unprivileged user jenkins (UID 1000) under tini 11,240 , a tiny init that forwards signals, so docker stop lets Jenkins shut down gracefully and pause its Pipelines. jenkins.sh copies anything under /usr/share/jenkins/ref into JENKINS_HOME on start, which is how derived images preinstall plugins with the bundled jenkins-plugin-cli (plugins.txt). The image does not contain the Docker 514 CLI: builds that need Docker run on agents (Build Agents).
