Animation in Compose 234 is state that changes over time: you change a target value, and an animation API produces the in-between values frame by frame. The APIs come in three levels: value animations (animate*AsState, Animatable), content animations (AnimatedVisibility, AnimatedContent, shared elements), and gestures that hand their final velocity to an animation. BookNest's detail and cart screens use one of each.
