.btn-close is an empty <button> that draws an X for dismissing alerts, modals, toasts and offcanvas panels (see the Button listing). It has no text, so aria-label="Close" is mandatory. Inside those components, data-bs-dismiss="alert" (or "modal", and so on) wires it to the plugin without any script.
