Toolchain Requirements

Capacitor 243,123 adds little to the Android toolchain from Android Toolchain: Node.js 22 2,131 or later for its CLI, the same SDK and emulator, and JDK 21 instead of JDK 17. iOS needs a Mac with Xcode 26 10 . The machine used for this chapter runs Node 22.22.1, the Android command-line tools with SDK Platform 36 and an API 36 emulator, and OpenJDK 21.0.12.1 10,925 , with no Android Studio 234 and no Mac.
