Building and Running BookNest on the Emulator

BookNest now has a search box above the catalog, an <input type="search"> whose input event filters the books by title or author (Keyboard and Rotation uses it). The loop for every change is Batch Files's: edit www, run ./r emulator-5558 (your emulator's serial) and look; the browser platform is quicker for pure layout work.

Startup time is the first thing a WebView app loses to a native one, so measure it. am start -W launches the activity and waits until its first frame is drawn:

COLD means a new process: Android started the app and CordovaActivity created the WebView, and TotalTime counts until the activity drew its first frame, 2.9 seconds on this busy emulator. The catalog itself appears after deviceready and the fetch() (deviceready), so the time a user waits is longer than TotalTime. Compare runs on one device, take the median of several, and confirm on a mid-range phone (Startup and Bridge Calls).
