Cordova 129 is the reference hybrid runtime, an Apache project under the Apache License 2.0 (github.com/apache/cordova (https://github.com/apache/cordova 711 )). It supplies four things: a native wrapper project per platform, a cordova CLI that generates and builds them, one manifest (config.xml) for all platforms, and a plugin system that carries calls from JavaScript to Java, Kotlin or Swift and back. It has no UI widgets of its own, so it suits content and form apps built with plain HTML, Framework7 572,986 or React 7,897 . Each platform is its own npm 2,036 package: cordova-android 15.1.0 runs your app in the Android System WebView (Chromium 4,389 , updated through Google Play 1 ), cordova-ios 8.1.1 in Apple's WKWebView, cordova-electron 4.0.0 in Electron 20,509 's Chromium on the desktop, and cordova-browser in any browser. A new project lists what your machine can build:
