Restyle (https://github.com/Shopify/restyle 3,424 ) (MIT, 2.4.5), from Shopify 175 , starts from a theme object with named colors, a spacing scale and text variants. createBox() and createText() give you Box and Text components whose props accept only theme values, so <Box padding="m" backgroundColor="surface"> type-checks and padding={13} does not. Styles are still React Native 36,878 style objects built at run time; the gain is discipline, enforced by TypeScript, with no compiler.
Tamagui (https://github.com/tamagui/tamagui 14,206 ) (2.7.7) is a style library (@tamagui/core, MIT), an optimizing compiler (@tamagui/static) and a kit of styled components, targeting React Native and the web with one API. The compiler analyzes your JSX at build time, hoists static styles and flattens wrapper components into plain views, so fewer components render at run time. The price is setup: a Babel 41,624 or bundler plugin, a tamagui.config.ts of tokens and themes, and an API that is Tamagui's own rather than CSS or Tailwind 5,202 .
