Touch, Press and Switches

A phone has no hover and no cursor: the finger is the pointer, and it covers what it touches. Every control has to decide whether a touch is its own, show that it noticed, and tell a tap from a long press or a drag away. Button is the ready-made control, Pressable the building block for everything custom, the older Touchable* wrappers survive in existing code, and Switch is the built-in toggle. This section runs each on the Android emulator, then adds ripples, hit slop, long press, haptics and targets large enough for every hand. The demos are small JavaScript components in src/touch/.
